1. Introduction

Welcome to the Axumite Journal of Multidisciplinary Sciences (AJMS), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published biannually by Aksum University’s College of Natural and Computational Sciences. AJMS publishes high-quality original research, review articles, and perspective papers across multidisciplinary sciences, including life sciences, physical sciences, STEM education, computational sciences, health and sport sciences, and earth and environmental sciences.

These guidelines provide essential information for authors preparing manuscripts for submission. Please read them carefully before submitting your work.

2. Types of Articles Accepted

• Original Research Articles: Empirical studies presenting novel findings. Maximum length: 20 pages (8,000–12,000 words including abstract, text in tables, and references).
• Review Articles: Comprehensive critical reviews of existing literature. Length: 7,000–10,000 words.
• Perspective Articles: Insightful commentaries, critical analyses, or forward-looking essays on emerging topics within the journal’s scope. Length: 5,000–7,000 words.

3. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted via the AJMS submission portal: https://ajms.aku.edu.et/

The submission must include:

• Cover letter
• Manuscript file (blinded for review) in Word document or LaTeX format
• Completed manuscript submission form
• Any supplementary files (figures, data, etc.)

4. Manuscript Preparation

4.1. Language

All submissions must be in English. Manuscripts in local languages (Geez, Tigrigna, Amharic) may be considered if accompanied by a full English translation.

4.2. Formatting

• Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
• Line spacing: Double (except abstract, tables, figures, and references)
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides
• File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX

4.3. Structure

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:

1. Title Page (separate file with author details)
2. Abstract (250–300 words, italicized, single-spaced, one paragraph, on one page)
3. Keywords (3–7)
4. Introduction
5. Literature Review (if applicable)
6. Methods
7. Results
8. Discussion
9. Conclusion (and recommendations, if any)
10. Acknowledgments
11. Conflicts of Interest Statement
12. References

NB: Tables & Figures (with captions) should be placed in relevant places within the text.

5. Ethical Requirements

• Originality: Manuscripts must not be published or under review elsewhere.
• Authorship: All authors must meet the authorship criteria set by ICMJE, APA, and other national and international standards. This can be shown by submitting author contribution statements of all authors.
• Plagiarism: AJMS uses plagiarism detection software. Any plagiarism will result in rejection or retraction.
• Ethical Approval: Studies involving humans or animals must include ethical approval details.
• Conflict of Interest: All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest.

6. Peer Review Process

AJMS uses a double-blind peer review system. The typical timeline from submission to decision is 90–120 days. Authors will be notified at each stage of the process.

7. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance, authors must sign a Copyright Agreement Form (Appendix III). AJMS publishes under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives International License. Authors retain certain rights to share and reuse their work.

8. Publication Fees

AJMS is an open-access journal with no article processing charges (APCs) for authors. Publication and access are free.
